For example… why do certain denominations baptize babies?

John 1:12-13, “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.”

The Bible teaches clearly that salvation is not dependent on your physical (natural) heritage. You are not saved because of your parents or their faith. It is not based on someone making the decision for you, or even you making the decision first. It is based on God’s decision and the will of God bringing the rebirth of the Holy Spirit into individual lives. Those born of God, the children of God, believe in His name.

Jesus told us specifically who to baptize…

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…” (Matthew 28:19).

We make disciples (those who believe) then we baptize them. Babies don’t have the cognitive ability to become disciples. Nor can their parents make that decision for them (John 1:13).
