Dr. Andrew Woods: The Apostasy Controversy (2 Thessalonians 2:3)

Excellent discussion on the use of the Greek word “apostasia” in this passage in regard to its meaning and the Rapture of the church.

I find it interesting that the 1599 Geneva Bible translates this passage as, “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a departing first, and that man of sin be disclosed, even the son of perdition (2 Thessalonians 2:3).

And even then Andy Woods points out in the Greek there is a definite article there so it could read, “…except there come THE departing first…”
